भारत ने डिजिटल टैक्स हटाने के अमेरिकी दबाव का किया विरोध, व्यापार समझौते में एकतरफा शर्तों पर ऐतराज़

 भारत और अमेरिका के बीच चल रही व्यापार वार्ताओं के दौरान, वाणिज्य मंत्रालय ने अमेरिका द्वारा प्रस्तावित उस शर्त का विरोध किया है जिसमें भारत को भविष्य में डिजिटल टैक्स जैसे ‘गूगल टैक्स’ दोबारा लागू न करने की कानूनी गारंटी देने के लिए कहा गया है।

सरकार ने मार्च 2025 में वित्त विधेयक में संशोधन करते हुए ऑनलाइन विज्ञापनों पर लगाए जाने वाले समानीकरण उपकर (equalisation levy) को हटाने का प्रस्ताव दिया था, जिससे अमेरिका को संकेत मिले कि भारत व्यापार नियमों में नरमी लाने को तैयार है।

हालांकि, वाणिज्य मंत्रालय के कानूनी सलाहकारों ने अब यह चेतावनी दी है कि अमेरिका की यह मांग केवल भारत पर लागू होती है, जबकि अमेरिका ने खुद को इस तरह की किसी भी डिजिटल टैक्स नीति से बाहर रखा है। इसे "एकतरफा दायित्व" करार दिया गया है।

भारत ऐसे किसी समझौते से बचना चाहता है जिससे भविष्य में डिजिटल अर्थव्यवस्था से जुड़े नीतिगत विकल्प सीमित हो जाएं। वहीं अमेरिका की ओर से भारत पर 26% प्रतिशोधात्मक टैरिफ लगाने की आशंका बनी हुई है, जो वार्ता को और जटिल बना रही है।

Following a major breach reported by The Atlantic, where top U.S. military strike plans on Yemen were mistakenly shared in a group chat including a journalist, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney issued a strong response.

Carney emphasized Canada’s need to "look out for itself", signaling a shift toward increased national defense autonomy. While reaffirming Canada’s close intelligence ties with the U.S. via the Five Eyes alliance, Carney noted the importance of accountability and resilience.

“My responsibility is to plan for the worst... to be more and more Canadian in our defense capabilities,” said Carney.

The diplomatic tone reflects growing strain in Canada–U.S. relations, especially in light of recent tensions including tariff threats and provocative remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump.
